How AI Football Cameras Transform Youth Academy Operations

Pogon Szczecin's Marcin Kochanowski explains how AI football cameras transformed youth academy operations with automated analysis, 4K video quality, and 24-hour match turnaround times.

"The fact that we have a video system made the work of our analytics department more precise. This is very important because all the information and video clips we pass to coaches are more precise, allowing the coaching staff and head coach to make decisions more accurately," says Marcin Kochanowski, Analysis Department Coordinator at Pogon Szczecin Academy.

Kochanowski discovered this transformation after implementing Veo's automated video system across Poland's leading football academy. The precision and speed improvements changed how coaches make tactical decisions and how players receive individual feedback.

This challenges the assumption that youth academy operations must rely on manual video analysis and time-intensive clip preparation processes.

Pogon Szczecin Academy's modern approach to player development

Marcin Kochanowski serves as Analysis Department Coordinator at Pogon Szczecin Academy, one of Poland's most respected youth development programs. Beyond his analytical role, he also works as a coach, giving him unique insight into both tactical analysis and player development needs.

Pogon Szczecin Academy operates as Poland's leading youth development facility, featuring modern infrastructure including new pitches, training facilities, and a comprehensive gym. The academy focuses on developing homegrown talent for the first team while maintaining championship ambitions at every age level.

Kochanowski's dual perspective as analyst and coach allows him to understand both the technical requirements for precise video analysis and the practical needs coaches face when working with young players during training and match situations.

The challenge of manual video analysis in youth development

Before implementing automated video systems, Pogon Szczecin's analytics department struggled with time-consuming manual processes that limited coaching effectiveness. "We record training sessions and league matches," Kochanowski explains, but the traditional approach created significant bottlenecks in delivering useful feedback.

Manual clip creation meant coaches waited longer for tactical analysis, reducing the impact of post-match feedback sessions. The time delay between matches and video review sessions meant players often forgot specific situations that needed improvement. "Thanks to this analysis, we can also push creativity in players by showing them that this situation can be solved differently, but we also rely on what you show on the field being important," Kochanowski notes about the delicate balance between tactical instruction and creative expression.

The academy's ambitious development goals demanded faster, more precise analysis to maintain their competitive edge and continue producing first-team players from their youth system.

How Veo's AI technology solved precision and speed problems

Kochanowski chose Veo after recognizing the need for automated systems that could deliver immediate results without sacrificing video quality. "We use the newer generation Veo Cam 3 cameras. I think the quality is amazing - 4K quality with options to manipulate contrast and brightness, so regardless of weather conditions, we can set up the cameras for good recording quality," he explains.

The setup process eliminated previous complications. "Very simple - we use a tripod, set up the tripod with the camera, turn on the camera. When it's on, we only need the Veo app, which automatically detects the camera, connects to it, and records. After the match, we press stop, and the match is automatically transferred to our database," Kochanowski describes.

Most importantly, Veo's automatic event tagging transformed their workflow efficiency. "The automation of generating the most important events in matches - not just the most important but all events including goals, shots, crosses - greatly facilitates our work with post-match material. We can generate clips faster, make decisions quicker, and send information to coaching staff faster, allowing them to conduct analysis and show players immediately, essentially closing out the match within 24 hours."

The individual player analysis capabilities particularly impressed Kochanowski: "We can separate all video clips individually for each player, so clips generated for one player from a match can be sent to them for individual performance analysis."
