Chelsea Rovers FC, established in 2018, is an amateur football club based in London with a vision to grow and eventually become a semi-professional club. What sets the club apart is not only their diverse team, comprised of over 20 nationalities, but also their commitment to coaching development.

Norbert Csorba, the club's manager, explains the importance of coaching development:

“We believe better coaches create better players, hence the reason why we purchased the Veo last year. This helped us win the league and promote from Step 9 to Step 8 by analyzing our weaknesses and strengths, understanding what we are doing right and what we need to change in our playing style” Csorba explains.

Focus is on individual feedback

Chelsea Rovers' approach to using data is simple and focused on the basics. Every Wednesday, the team hosts a Zoom session where they analyze the principles of play in and out of possession, with the managers creating highlights prior to the meeting. For example, highlights might focus on build up-up play from a goal kick, and the team works together to analyze the team and unit performance, with a focus on pitch geography.

While team analysis is important, individual feedback is also crucial to player development:

"For individual feedback, we assign our players homework to analyze key points given by their coaches and send feedback back to the manager. It's all about ensuring that we can help each player improve their game and that we're all on the same page."

This helps the team identify areas for improvement and allows for personalized feedback for each player. The use of analytics has become increasingly important in football, and coaches like Csorba are using data to inform their game strategy and tactics:

“The new features are great as it allows us to generate numbers on anything, from shots to passing strings and other things. Collecting this data allows us to understand what we need to practice or change during our sessions. It also gives us insight if our strategy works.”

By leveraging data and analytics, coaches can gain insight into their players’ progress and identify areas where adjustments to their coaching methods may be needed:

“One of the great things we noticed is that our team forces the play down the middle too many times thanks to the heat map. This made us understand that some of our sessions are too cramped in small spaces, thus we have decided to change this and focus on the width more.”

The new analytics has become an increasingly important tool for Chelsea Rovers FC. By leveraging data and statistical analysis, the team can now gain valuable insights into their performance and make data-driven decisions to improve their outcomes:

“The pass location feature which shows you the thirds of the pitch and the percentage you have the ball in each third made us realize we do not keep the ball enough in our defensive third and rush the play forward, limiting the space for us to break lines. We now have implemented certain conditions for our defenders during our sessions and managed to have greater success moving the ball forward through the middle.”

Livestreaming with Veo LIVE
All the clubs’ games are livestreamed on Veo LIVE, and even in South Korea, people are watching the livestream:

“The majority of our team members, their friends, and their families watch our games. We also have a great base of supporters from South Korea, which means we get people watching our games over there as well.”

Live streaming has become a game-changer for football clubs in recent years, providing a new way for fans to connect with their teams even when they cannot attend matches in person. For a club like Chelsea Rovers FC, their use of live streaming technology has not only helped them to analyze their games and improve their performance, but it has also had a positive impact on their fanbase.

As Csorba explains, "Our players absolutely love it! This is their own 5-minute fame as they say and they do enjoy it. Especially here in London where commuting is a challenge due to bad traffic a lot of our players would now watch our games from home instead of traveling for up to 2 hours sometimes on a cold morning to support us, this way they watch the game from the comfort of their own house or where ever they might be."
