With an impressive bicycle kick, FC Lembeke’s Mattice Dossche won the first edition of Voetbal Vlaanderen’s ‘Veo Goal of the Season’.

In collaboration with our Belgian partners Voetbal Vlaanderen, we have awarded the ‘Veo Goal of the Season’ for the 2022-2023 season in the Flanders region. Each matchday featured some fantastic goals, but one goal, in particular, stood out from the rest.

FC Lembeke's Dario Boulez headed the ball to his teammate Mattice Dossche, who hammered the ball into the back of the net with a bicycle kick, leaving the SV Zaffelare goalkeeper with no chance. With this goal, Dossche won the inaugural edition of Voetbal Vlaanderen's 'Veo Goal of the Season’.

In addition to the honor, Dossche received a signed Kevin De Bruyne jersey.

Voetbal Vlaanderen interviewed the player about the goal and the use of Veo, which FC Lembeke uses to record all of their matches.

You won the first edition of the ‘Veo Goal of the Season’. Did you expect to go that far and win it?
"It's a great honor to win the first edition. It was always exciting to advance to the next round and eventually reach the final. I certainly didn't expect to win in the end because the goals of the other nominees were also impressive. But ultimately, it's a form of recognition that I will definitely look back on."

Absolutely deserved! How did your teammates experience the voting? Were they able to help you?
"I think everyone at FC Lembeke helped by reaching out to contacts and groups. Friends and family also voted and rallied for me. It's nice that they were willing to do that for me! Thank you to everyone who voted and kept voting."

It was a beautiful goal, and fortunately, it was captured on Veo. Have you been using Veo for a long time? What’s the value of it for you and the club?
"The Veo camera was introduced with the arrival of our new coach at the beginning of the last season. It was a new experience for everyone, but it has definitely proven its value. Reviewing certain moments is enjoyable, although some are less so, haha!"

As a player, it's also interesting to see what you do well and sometimes not. And without the Veo camera, my goal would only exist in my memory, so I'm happy with this addition!"

You’ve had a good start with FC Lembeke in the new season. What are the teams' goals and your personal goals for this season?
"That's right, we've had a good start. There's a good collective with a nice mix of experienced and younger players. We can't complain about our start. The primary goal is to secure our place in the league, and the rest we'll see. We're going to make it tough for every team we face. My goal is to score around 10 to 15 goals again, but that's much less important than securing our position."
