Exciting updates on Veo Cam 2
August 8th 2022
Anna Louise Fjelldal

In May, we revolutionized sports by shipping Veo Cam 2, the world’s first portable AI camera that can automatically live-stream, to thousands upon thousands of teams world-wide. But being a front runner also comes with opportunities for areas to improve. Since May, we have actively listened to our customer’s feedback, and we are now pleased to announce some of the new software improvements.

At Veo, we constantly push boundaries and strive to improve our customers' camera experience. Our latest camera software update includes several new improvements, like the ability to stream, upload and connect over Wi-Fi and faster set-up before live-streaming. Read on to discover all the latest enhancements.

Stream, upload and connect over Wi-Fi

Last month we made it possible to stream, upload and connect the game wirelessly over Wi-Fi. You can also easily connect it from your phone’s hotspot. With this new feature, you no longer need an ethernet cable to transfer the recording from the camera. It is now automatically done.

The ability to stream, upload and connect over Wi-Fi directly results from feedback from our customers, who have highlighted how important it is to transfer the recordings quickly and easily without worrying about it. These changes will be especially beneficial for traveling teams who no longer have to worry about carrying extra cables or equipment. We hope that these changes will help to make your Veo experience even smoother.

Start live-streaming in only 30 seconds

Before a game, coaches are extremely busy. They organize the team, discuss strategy, and get everyone pumped up for the big game. In the midst of all this, they also have to set up the live stream. We aim to make this process as quick and easy as possible, so coaches can focus on what they do best. We've worked hard to reduce the setup time from 90 seconds to nearly 30 seconds and constantly strive to make it even faster. We hope that by streamlining this process, we can help coaches focus on what's really important: winning the game.

Improved stability and expanded recording capacities in difficult environments

We have made several improvements to the stability of the camera connection. One issue we had was with some phones in certain environments where the connection was less stable. We have improved the connection between the phone and the camera to be more stable in various settings.

We have also increased the temperature at which the camera can record, from 33 to 38 degrees Celsius (91 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit). Additionally, we have reduced recordings' wind noise so you can capture clearer audio in windy conditions. These improvements should help improve customers' overall experience when recording in challenging environments.

Coming up: Preflight check and speed test

Connection speed is important for providing a good live streaming experience. That's why we offer a preflight check to make sure your internet connection is up to snuff. But we also know that things can change, so we give users the option to do a speed test at any time. That way, you can always be sure that you're getting the best possible experience. So whether you're just getting started or you're in the middle of a live stream, we've got you covered.

Constantly improving and pushing boundaries

Veo is committed to providing the best possible product, and we will continue to push the boundaries to provide the best experience for our Veo community. Together we’re on a mission to make sports technology accessible to all. This is why we would love to hear any feedback or suggestions you may have – feel free to share those here. In the meantime, enjoy the new software updates.
